United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Firenze Red

Not alone - I quite like reading manuals. As a teenager I loved to read through the old style Haynes manuals - the ones with lovely exploded drawings - sadly no more. Jules

It started with the EAGLE.

My grandmother bought me the Eagle comic each week from the time I was 7 years old.

I don't know if any of you can remember it, but as well as Dan Dare (set in the late 1900s and in space!!), it always had cutaway drawings of things in the centrefold. For Example Trains, Boats, Planes, or the occasional Power Station.

It was my interest in these, and their detail, which set me on my life in engineering. Also my job often involved wading through piles of paperwork, checking that what the salesman had sold the customer would work in that particular configuration.

My approach to people who complain about bad/malfunctioning switchgear, is to ask them to demonstrate to me what they did. Although it is important to be non-judgemental if you want them to tell you the truth. Bad design, or bad operating, is not unknown. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
