Help with DTC P0683-24 please

Hi all

I am getting the DTC P0683-24 Intermittently and don't know where to start in trying to diagnose the problem.
I can clear the error and it will be fine for days or come back later that day (having made multiple start and stop trips).
My engine (SD4 MY2011) was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago and 4 new Glow Plugs where installed.

I understand (although probably miles off) that the glow plug relay/Control Module and the ECU are located in the engine bay behind the firewall and that this error seems to indicate a problem with the glow plug control module communicating with the PCM. Does anyone have an suggestions or correct my complete misunderstanding of the situation if that is the case please!!!

Also while I'm at it. I am also getting B10EA-14 permanently. I know this is for the PTC heater and wonder if I can check the connections from the side panels in the footwell instead of dismantling the centre console etc. Sorry if this should be a separate post, I will amend it.

This is my first post seeking advice although I have been using Freel2.com for the 2 years I've had my Landy and have saved myself a small fortune with the wealth of information and guides contained on this site and appreciate the many hours a lot of you regular guys post help and advice for us amateurs.

Kind regards
Lenny27

From the list of DTC codes and sub-codes available on this site.

P0683-24 Glow plug control module to powertrain control module communication circuit, General signal failure - signal stays high.

Could it be a bad connection. Maybe check all the connections, plugs and sockets. And then wires for continuity. Though Im not sure what a high signal means to be honest.

B10AE-14 Headlamp levelling motor, General electrical failure - circuit short to ground or open

Not PTC it seems. Jules

Hi Jules

Thanks for the reply. I sort of gathered the problem is probably a dodgy connection but what I’m really after is some information of the best way to gain access to the wiring associated with the glow plugs, specifically the glow plug relay/control module and ECM.

Also, apologies. The other DTC I enquired about was supposed to read
B10EA-14 “Positive temperature coefficient heater” Type - Intermittent

I’d be very grateful of any suggestions regarding either of these fault codes.\

Kind regrds
