Is there much difference between a LR filter and a Bosch one?

I have never done a fuel filter before and I was a bit apprehensive about doing it so I watched the very helpful video by PowerfulUK! I didn't spot the follow-up video and I'm kind of glad that I didn't.

By now it was almost 9pm, pitch black, cold, working by inspection lamp and Mrs Barnacles had just announced that she needed the car running by 7am! I didn't have a suction pump or a bucket of diesel so I ended up removing the filter from the car, unscrewing the cap on the top of the filter, bunging up the hole on the bottom with my finger and pouring diesel in until it overflowed.

When I put it all back together it did fire up but went into limp mode while test driving it. I shut down and fired up again and all was back to normal. Huge sigh of relief!!

The free JLR service manual explains this and many other tasks in much detail and unlike some utube videos doesnt give you the wrong information.

RTBM first

I recently asked on another forum (as no manual is available for that vehicle yet) what a certain bolt torque setting was. The consensus ranged from 75 to 100Nm. In fact its only 45-47Nm (discovered before I undertook the job). Jules

I also fill the filter via the water valve ( the cap on top of the filter )................... so easy
