Coding/ programming

Hi, I'm new to the site and hope I'm posting this topic in the right place, I have a 2007 Freelander 2, it's needing the engine replaced with a donner, I know I need to use the original injectors but do I need to use anything else regarding the original engine, maybe things like fuel pump or sertain sensors that might be coded/programmed to the ECU that the donner engine obviously wont be coded to. I've already pulled the engine and I'm in the process swapping things over to the engine that's to be put back in, thanks in advance for any advice.

Do we assume that the donor engine is from exactly the same vehicle (age etc ?) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Engine is from a 2008 fl2 model, I'm assuming it's the same as it looks just like the original engine in every way, what Im really asking is, is it just injector's that's coded to a particular engine/ECU or are there other parts that have to be coded along with injectors?, I've came across this in other vehicles, especially deisel models.

There are a few components that you need swop over, like the injectors and throttle body and turbo. Nothing else is calibrated or coded.

Out of interest, what's wrong with the engine? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Big ends went on the original engine, I had the crankshaft seal ( gearbox end ) leak, driving along then heard a loud metallic rumbling, checked my oil which was on the low side, took sump off and found lots of metal inside it, think I ran it with not enough oil so engine was a right off, should have been on top of the oil but you live and learn.

I've changed the turbo over and doing injectors tomorrow, so what your saying is IL deffo need to swap the throttle body too.

The low oil will have been the cause of bearing failure. My big ends didn't show any wear to speak of at 120k, and this engine should be good for 300k if its maintained correctly. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

The throttle body is calibrated, so really it should go over, but it's only 3 small bolts, so not difficult.

If the intake manifold is off, you might as well replace the glow plugs and remove the port deactivation (swirl) flaps while your there. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I've heard of the swirl flap removal thing, I take it people do it because there's a risk of them breaking and causing major damage, IL have to look into it a bit more and find out how to go about it thanks.

Yes remove the port flaps. It takes just a few minutes, once the intake manifold is off. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

No, it's very unlikely - it's all about removing the risk of broken flaps damaging the engine which will certainly affect performance! Thumbs Up

The word on the street from those I know who have removed the flaps have said that low end pickup improves, presumably as the cylinder can fill with air faster off boost, as there is more air flow.

However the primary reason for removing the flaps, is to eliminate the issue of them breaking off and being ingested by the engine. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
