I cleaned mine up and reinstalled it a few months back; I'd suggest replacing it, it's there for a reason. Make sure you keep it around the same length and configuration. |

Yep, if you've got it as well, it must be standard and there for a reason. It's on the list of jobs to do. |

The reason its there is ....... besides the high level brake lamp, the tailgate opening switch ........... its the HEATED REAR WINDOW that pulls maximum current. |

I've managed to bodge the current strap and ordered a new one. Found a mention on another thread that it's to give additional earth as earth through the hinge may be inconsistent when well greased, which makes sense. |
