United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Barolo Black
Random miss fire

Hi guys
My 2007 se manual has a random miss fire.
When i say miss fire, its more like it misses a beat, drives lovely for miles then has funny moment where it judders as if ive turned the ignition off and on quickly, Its not a lack of power just a split second judder.

A few weeks ago it cut out and would not start without removing and replacing the key, run a while and cut out again, done this all day, done a reset and it cured that.
Since that day the judder has become worse, more like its missing two beats, and more often.

I am convinced its electrical, ive cleaned all the multi plugs i can see with electrical contact cleaner and still the same.
It had a new battery last week after a low voltage issue, still misses two beats though.
Are there any known multi plugs that play up or regular places for a broken wire maybe.
Someone mention Crank sensor for the cutting out, could that cause this problem.

Appreciate any help or suggestions.

.

Almost certainly the crank position sensor (CPS). Your description of momemtarily turning the ignition off & on describes it perfectly. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
171037Km as of 09/05/22
Superchips Bluefin Flash
Nanocom Evo II (also sold)

If it had a key i would say its being flicked off and on or a motorcycle kill switch being flicked each way, only way i can think to describe what happens.
Glad its looking like the crank sensor, work put a battery order in today with Euro car parts and got the sensor for a tenner for me, cheap fix if it works.

Changed the crank sensor and it appears to have cured the problem.
