2012 SD4 Intermitted starting - Showing E on cluster

Hi guys

My 2012 SD4 recently started having intermittent starting issues. Pressing the start button will result in just a "click" from relays while displaying, very very briefly, an E on the cluster, where the gear select normally shows.

On the 2nd or 3rd attempt it will start without any issues and then also not displaying the E on the cluster.

There are no error codes and battery has been confirmed good. Also tried an additional earth strap, but no luck.

Any ideas?

More than likely it's the starter solenoid playing up but could of course also be the starter itself.

There is a solenoid repair kit available online.

Check ebay etc. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Superchips Bluefin Flash
Nanocom Evo II (also sold)

"E" thing could be a problem on the CAN bus...
Probably some bad connections: either on the bus itself or on the power distribution.
