Something worth noting is I had a set of the novsight LED bulbs. The main issue I had with them besides distance was the fact they interfered with the LED DRL cluster on MY13 headlights causing the DRL cluster to periodically turn off while driving. Never happened straight away after turning on the car so I didn't notice until a colleague pointed out one of my lights was out. I therefore swapped the LED HB3's for a set of the Stealth HID kits and have never looked back. Freelander 2 XS 2013

Why would it take "an hour or so" to fit the bulbs?
Really interested as like so many keep getting blown bulbs when upgrading so now back to GE originals and feeble night vision. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Have to say, I've only had to replace one HB3 in the last 3 and a bit years. But cant see the point of fitting something that is potentially going to cause a MOT failure.  2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

So darkness has arrived and I have ventured out.

Opinion,

1) The LEDS look amazing and the Colour Match to the LED signature DRL is near perfect.
2) The pattern and spread I would say is about 80% of the HB3's
3) Brightness is massively improved i would say at least 100% but the the 200% they claim.
4) Distance - Main beam is good and I would say at least as good as with the HB3's
5) No dazzling other Road users in the time I was on the road.
6) Instant on and off makes flashing very clear and super bright.

I need to take it onto a fast unlit dual carriageway or Motorway to really see the difference.

I have included the pictures of them for you all to ponder and comment over.

Initial Opinion is that the colour and brightness out way the slight reduction in beam pattern and spread.
I need to drive on faster roads fully assess the distance performance but at this stage I am very pleased.

When I say an hour, I would say about 40 -5 mins and 15 mins of chat and to pay.

I will put another update on after I have been using them for a week and in various conditions and roads etc

Final Update....

Pro's
Great colour and very bright, match the DRL's and Signature LED's
Instant on and off, low operating temperature.
work well with standard projector headlights.


Cons
Pattern and spread I would estimate to be around 85-90% of Halogens, however bonus is that nearside is better illuminated.
Beam does not quite reach that of Halogens, but only by feet.
Slight shadowing in front of vehicle (20 feet max)

Overall an improvement over HB3's with a 3 year warranty against failure.

Looking at the design of those LEDs, I'm really surprised that they have given a passable beam pattern in the later projector style headlights. I tried numerous options of that style and all left noticeable black spots. Expensive too!

I have taken a couple of more pictures from a rural road that I think shows the light pattern and strength in a better light.

I think bobupndown has a point that HID's are a safer bet to achieve the best performance. However LED's are there but still a bit sketchy when it comes to picking the right ones, but ultimately will prove to be longer lasting.

Does that mean you only dazzle 10 to 15% of oncoming traffic?
