i think the VIN number give date location of the build

According to the Owners Handbook (page 210) the vehicle production date is shown on the tyre pressure label attached to the right-hand 'B' post. However the plate on my Freely did not contain this info. It has also been mentioned on this forum that there is a dated sticky label under the spare wheel cover that is the production date. I found paper label and the date on it seemed pretty close to when I thought my Freely was built, however a readout from the dealers info on my car informed that the build date was slightly different to the sticky label.

Also if it's an automatic, don't bother looking for it. Only the manuals are e-s.

But as mentioned - this is the sticky label date "close to" the vehicle build date. The dealer has the "actual" build date on data if it is not on the tyre pressure plate 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
