I have no experience with remapping FL2 but have had four previous cars remapped.

Just a thought but if your car is a manual then be aware that the engine can produce more torque than the gearbox can handle so that the ECU limits engine torque to keep it within limits. Your remapping needs to take this into consideration. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

There is a remap specialist near me, who has generically remapped an insignia, an SD4 FL2 and SD4 Evoque for me. Whilst the FL2 and Evoque didn't physically show much increase in power on the road but were much smoother to drive and hence felt faster.

I did the Bluefin remap a couple of years ago. It cost about £350 I think, but you have to be fairly computer-savvy to do it yourself (and have access to the internet and a Windows pc with USB ports).

A good remapper for Freelander 2s is Jamie Cox at JC Tuning. Based in Darlington but offers a mobile service too I believe: http://www.jctuning.co.uk/

Hi all, thanks for all the replies very helpful advice, I think with the current possible lockdown this idea will probably be put on hold.

Like Jules said, there are generic stage1 maps that are more than enough.

You may well be right, I can't spot the other differences, here's the JLR press release. https://media.landrover.com/en-gb/news/201...eelander-2 More JLR press releases for the FL2 https://media.landrover.com/en-gb/vehicle/freelander-2 PS for years the computer industry has slowed down cheaper versions by software or capacity restrictions. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |

As hardware is concerned, if you are referring to the 2007-2010 TD4 vs SD4, then different turbo, different ECU, etc.... If you are referring to the 2010+ TD4 vs. SD4, then yes, the same hardware with different software. |

So if you want to remap a TD4 its probably better to remao a late model rather than an early one. Jules |

IIRC After the 386 CPU, Intel launched the 486 processor in two versions; the SX and DX. They were both the same except that the math coprocessor was turned off in the cheaper 486SX CPU. Jules |
