Fault code help needed

My daughter was out in her newly purchased 2011 freelander2 today and she was happily driving along and the transmission fault light came on, as we are new to land rover ownership, only had ours for 10 months and she has only had hers 5 days any idea why this should happen,

the car did not go in to limp mode or any thing else untoward, so any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Moe

I would start by checking the battery as they can throw up all sorts of warnings if not well charged or on their last legs.

Hi Chips, she bought it from a private seller, buyer beware, she had the battery checked today and apparantley it's okay so I suggested she gets a diagnostic check to try and find out what the cause of the problem.

Sorry to hear that. Of course have the codes read for starters.

Most common general fairly easily fixed problems (obviously not all) seem to stem from

Battery
Hoses loose or split
Crankshaft Sensor
Loose connections/chafed or damaged wires
Fuel Filter
Leaking seals

When I took mine for a test drive before purchase the transmission light was on - turned out to be a faulty Haldex pump.
