how do i get the haldex unit off the rear differential

Hi

I am new to this forum and would appreciate some advice

I have just removed the rear differential to get it refurbished ( diff noise) and I need to remove the haldex unit. The haynes book ( yes I know) just says remove the 4 bolts and take it off but it seems very stuck. Do I need to remove the nut on the front input shaft or is there some other thing i am missing. thanks for your help

Hi,
plenty of reading about the Haldex unit Yawn use the search button between PMs and Members in the blue title bar near the top of the page Thumbs Up

But no, it should be the 4 bolts and remove, see Alex's comments only the second post in the attached thread,

you may need to "encourage" it to split, may be a soft hammer time

thing yours should be a Gen4 Confused

yep - remove the 4 bolts and tap with a mallet. I wouldn't try and lever it off - too easy to damage mating surfaces. Jules
