@westville ! Yes I found it but this trim hasn't got the inner ribs and steel wire incorporated mate. So you may need to glue it in or spend £50 squids to buy from LR .

I'm probably just going to clean up the paintwork and leave it as it is - the original stuff was achieving nothing so anything (or nothing) can't be any worse Whistle No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I bought 4 mtrs. I have only got one left to do at the front, which is still intact. I have enough left to do this when it goes. Its cheap enough stuff. Yes, the original is ~ 21mm . I think I remembered measuring it, so this replacement is not as tall, but it covers the edges

Could you please upload a pic of this trim. I looked at the original, even at 21-22 mm on the outside it still left 2 mm of metal so if the trim is 3 mm less than the original then there will be about 5 mm of the metal shown. More chance getting chipped.

There was a link with a pic at the bottom of my post before. An eBay link. Yes , some metal is still showing, but the real edge is a bit protected from flying rocks. It all relative. Some protection or no protection from flying rocks ?

No I found the trim on ebay so. What I mean was if you could take a pic of your trim that fitted in place on your car. Very Happy

Haven't got car with me for a few weeks, but the stuff is cheap and isn't particularly something to look at on the car : Very Happy

I've ordered some of the 21mm rubber trim to give it a try - deciding factor no metal to rot and warp so it should be a one time fix Thumbs Up
Will take some pics of it in situ when I fit it - Total cost around £14 No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

New rubber trim arrived - good dense quality well moulded - cut and fitted to car in 15mins - snug fit and seems to me to cover as much of the wheel arch as the LR version without the metal inserts to rust and distort - so for less than £15 have dealtwith that problem - what's next? Shocked
Pictures don't reallydo it justice but here goes:

Thank westville it looks good Very Happy . As it has similar dimensions to the original it should has similar coverage.
I was worried that without the steel it won't hold firm and may come off without some glue.
I am waiting for a set form Dan Duckworth at the moment.

I've replaced most of my blown ones with some edge protection strip from eBay , which you just cut to desired length with a hack saw. Did first one about a year ago and still ok.. Not as tall / deep as the original one by a few mm but seem ok so far. I just looked up edge protectors on eBay and they were supplied by somewhere called the metal house

Guessing you refer to this one?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Rubber-U-...1438.l2649

I found it yesterday but not sure about the grip and I don't think it has steel wire incorporated.

I’ve just got 4 metres of this from the seller arrived in less than 2 days perfect fit and no metal to warp and rust. Will be treating the edge with something before fitting I wasn’t going to bother replacing but happy I took a punt on this. Thumbs Up

Worth reading this thread.

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic35958.html?highlight=rust

It is believed the wheel arch mouldings cause a build up of road dirt and muck, which can cause rust of the wheel arch metal work.

I took mine off as soon as I bought the car, wise move. Cool

Took mine off 12 months ago,I think they are waste of time, just collect mud but everyone has their own opinion, tried the stuff off eBay didn’t fit very well for me and they went in the bin so cleaned up inside the arches and will see how it goes

This Nilfisk underbody jet spray attachment really helps - all metal and can get through small gaps eg between wheel spokes etc
