Roof box

Good Morning,

Due to our growing family, we are now in the market for a roof box and everything i need to fit one. Currently our FL2 doesn't have roof rails or any type of bar.

My questions are -

1. Can I put on traditional type roof bars with our the LR rails?
2. If I HAVE to have rails, are ones for a pano roof different?
3. Best places to buy necessary parts?

Thank you.

Dan

I have a set from Whispbar. The mountings bolt directly into where the rails normally would be. You'll need to drill a couple of holes in the trim (it's all instructed and it's really non-issue, honestly). At that point they are totally permanent and don't rely on clamping around door openings etc.

I've been very happy with mine.

Got a Thule roof box which has clamps so you can quickly put it on or take it off and is easy to adjust the positioning.

Hope that helps.

*Edit* no idea about Pano roof. I don't have one. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

You need to buy the specific type roof rails with a pano roof. they sit slightly taller to accommodate the sunroof opening. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

We've got Thule aerobars and an Exodus 590ltr roofbox (made by Thule) from Halfords , it opens either side and clamps down with ease , it's also very quiet too .

Mark,

Your FL2 looks great with the wheels that colour! Do you find that with the bars you're using, it makes the roof box sit too far forward?

The trick is to buy one so long it fills the whole roof Smile

The one I have allows for a lot of adjustment back and forward so never had an issue with positioning. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

To sleep in it!

& if it is 590L you can fit roughly 35.2 kg of ping pong balls in it so you will be pretty much at your roof load limit including box & roof rack.

In other words about 13037 ping pong balls with a packing density of 0.74048. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
