Changed my oil late for the first time in 12 years

Freel2,

I always change my oil every 6 months or 7,500 miles.

Like everyone else I haven't been driving.

Most recent oil changes

Dec 1 2019 ---> 121,659 miles

Sept 5 2020 ---> 123,421 miles

That a full 9 months but only 1,762 miles

I am running full synthetic motor oil

And because I was under my Freel2 I also changed

ATF - 3 quarts

Power transfer unit - I just added back the amount I drained (I did drill a drain hole a while back and that makes it easier)

I also switched to fill plugs with magnets for:
- Engine
- Automatic transmission (Plus add a few magnets to the outside of the front cover)
- Power transfer unit
- Rear Differential

My question?

What is everyone else doing?

Should I just switch to once a year for engine oil?

Or should I follow the schedule?

Let me know your thoughts

Thanks

Paul

PS I don't plan to drive my LR2 much past 500,000 miles if that make a difference in your reccomendations.

Ukraine 2013 Freelander 2 2.0T SE Auto Fuji White

Not getting a service done. I got my mechanic to go over the car last October with a fine tooth comb after our outback trip, nothing wrong with the car, & the rear brakes replaced which didn't quite need doing.

The car has basically been sitting in the garage, 689km in 11 months & I charge the batteries every few weeks. We can't travel interstate so will just stay at home & not add anything to the economy! The end of November I need to get registration done.

My mechanic has a spare set of filters which I paid for last year & also have another spare set myself I pack in the car for when we travel in the outback. I have 50L of fuel in containers. At the rate we are going I have enough fuel for another year!

I might pull the car appart & vacuum under the carpet! Yawn

I have only ever done 12 month services & previous cars were 18 & 25 years old each doing 250,000+ km. The odometers on both cars died of exhaustion! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I have the oil and filter changed every 6 months regardless which works out at about 4000 miles max , the car also gets plugged in to check the Dpf level . It's only run on premium diesel and upto now I've never had any Dpf issues .
