So had a surprising 'Low Coolant' message on the dash today - I have a nose around the engine bay to find leak coming from what looks to be the water pump area. |

Well, I consider myself to be an experienced (but lazy) mechanic. I did my Evoque timing belt myself. For someone who hasn’t done one before, I can imagine it could be 'challenging'. All depends on your patience level. I have none these days. |

Did mine two years ago & it took me most of the day (about six hours). I think the worst part was checking the tensioner position after fitting the new belt, took several goes to get it right.

Thanks guys. Definitely water pump. Parts ordered. While waiting can do some other tasks on her that have been put off as she's the daily driver. |

Loads of room to change the belt compared to saloon cars. The hardest bit was final angle torque to crankshaft bolt. Easy if it was on a lift to do from underneath. Ramps on your drive is a bit more hassle. |
