Performance intake & intercooler

I recently had my Freelander remapped which has been great. However after speaking to my usual mechanic and doing some research it looks like to get the best out of it I need to upgrade the intercooler (upgraded intake made sense to me as well).

I have been trying to find somewhere that does custom builds for the intercooler as there does not seem to be made to fit one already, same with the intake.

So two questions:

Has anybody upgraded their intercooler and/or intake?

Does anybody know custom car part manufacturers I could use?

Can't answer your question, but (and apologies if I'm completely mistaken) but won't the map have been done based on the individual characteristics of what's under your bonnet now? So changing some items would affect the map, and not necessarily for the better?

As I say, the above is based on my limited knowledge so I may be totally wrong. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

@Chuckalicious I think you're correct . Remaps are often quoted in terms of stages with, for example, Stage 1 being a remap on a stock car, Stage 2 involving uprated air intake/exhaust/intercooler, Stage 3 bigger turbo, uprated injectors & pump. But these levels are not set in stone. Jules

My recollections from my Impreza days were that you remap a 'finished' engine; fitting an upgraded intercooler, exhaust system and such would generally uplift performance and I believe as such would have a bearing on the readings the mapper used when working his magic. In the circumstances I agree that you may well need to see your guy again after you've made your upgrades
