Instrument cluster firmware upgrade?

I found an old thread on here about upgrading the instrument cluster to show instant fuel consumption and time etc.

Could anyone shed some light on what is required to do this?

I have a 2007 GS model and it only shows avg fuel consumption and has no time displayed.

Thanks

I've done this upgrade/mod on mine, both my current MY11 car and my previous MY08 one.

In my case, I used a Nanocom to flash the files to the IPAC.

1. Read IPAC info from car using Nanocom.
2. On PC, download the required modified file version from -
https://yadi.sk/d/U7N6bA88e5G7T
3. Rename the modified 466kb file to VBF0.VBF
4. Download the relevant flash file set from Genesis.
5. Remove the existing 466kb VBF0.VBF file from the file set and replace with the renamed modified one.
6. Add files to SD card in Nanocom.
7. Flash the IPAC with Nanocom

There are other diagnostics systems that can be used but I have no experience of them so I can't comment on those.

Thanks for your reply. Seems easy enough but I don't think its worth the cost of the diagnostics kit to do it really.

Maybe if I get one in the future I'll do it.

Did you read the entire, corresponding, thread?
Because there is all you need to know, including how it's done with the help of the dealer software, for which there are aftermarket interfaces with very low prices...

I used version JLR SDD 130 https://www.google.com/search?q=sdd 130 jaguar and clone Mongoose cable......you will need an adequate supply charger. The thread Alex created has all the info that you will need but I read through the entire thread first. It's a leap of faith really if you don't want to spend the big bucks.
