Hello Guys,

I am retrofitting a webasto FBH to my car (UK model). The only missing part of the puzzle is where to connect the blower cable from the webasto FBH unit to turn on the blower in the car. This is to turn the car's blower on when the FBH is at a certain temperature

I don't think that's possible for freelander. But maybe I'm wrong, in which case I'm really curious, as well, about how it could be done. MY2011, TD4 Auto, Xenon headlights, fog lamps DRLs, sunroof, tinted windows, almond electric seats w/ lumbar support, leather steering wheel w/ audio controls, dog/luggage guard, ambient lights, flush Whispbars, Mantec sump&tank guards, Xtrons Head Unit

Webasto fuel burning heaters were fitted as standard to Freelander 2 mainly LHD vehicles.
I’m not sure about pre MY13 but post heaters were all CAN based. MY15

Probably he wants to turn it on/off manually, not automatically by the engine.

@Germplus1
You can make some modifications with a couple of relays, but that means that the blower will run at full power. And the blower fan on full power is an electric hog.
Otherwise, you will need that FBH blower output to drive an an additional module that will, in turn, drive by PWM the fan controller, like the HVAC is doing.

Hello Alex

Thank you for the information. I installed a relay to control the speed of the fun.
The relay came complete with the harness i bought on ebay.

Just need to find where it hacks into the blower.

And yes. I am controlling the entire FBH manually. ( I will switch it on when I want. Not the car’s ECU )

And see on page 47 or 50, depending of your equipment and devise a way to drive the blower motor, as I've told you in the previous message.

See that Webasto is selling a PWM module for driving the blower fan module for Discovery 3. It may be as well working on Freelander.
See on the bellow documentation, on page 7, that IPCU module. It may also suggest you how to modify the car's schematic.

Or, in the end, visualize the PWM signal from HVAC module and reproduce it with a microcontroller.

Couldn't find on the videos.
How did you connect the fan?
I've got everything sorted but have no idea where to connect and start the cabin fan? I'd like to feed it via resistor pack so it doesn't run on full blow.

Hello mikescotland,
I connected the cabin blower By tapping into the car’s resistor. Just by the passenger's footwell ( UK Model )
You will need to buy a PWM fan controller to lower the voltage so the fan will not run at 12V to preserve the battery.

You will also need a relay to Switch the PWM Fan controller off when your car’s ignition is on so cabin blower fan will behave normal.

Below is the link for the aftermath resistor I used. I'm currently away. Will make a video when when back.
