Turbo Boost Control Issue - DTC`s. Any advice?

Hi All,

I have intermittent power issues to my car. Have read the following fault ciodes:

Car Scanner ELM OBD2

Selected brand: Land Rover
VIN: SALFA28B07H005650

============1==============
P2297(21)
Raw code: 229721
ECU: Engine control unit
Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Confirmed, Test not completed since last DTC clear, Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle
OBDII: Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1, bank 1 - signal out of range during deceleration
============2==============
P00AF(75)
Raw code: 00AF75
ECU: Engine control unit
Status: Test failed, Pending, Test failed since last DTC clear
OBDII: Turbocharger (TC)/supercharger (SC) boost pressure control A - module performance
============3==============
P2564(37)
Raw code: 256437
ECU: Engine control unit
Status: Test failed, Pending, Test failed since last DTC clear
OBDII: Turbocharger (TC) boost control position sensor - circuit low
============4==============
P0045(19)
Raw code: 004519
ECU: Engine control unit
Status: Test failed, Pending, Test not completed since last DTC clear, Test failed since last DTC clear
OBDII: Turbocharger (TC) boost control solenoid/supercharger (SC) boost control solenoid - open circuit

The fault codes was cleared not long ago, so these are probably valid.

Any advice on where to start?

After some heavily googling and checking, My best bet will be on a failing turbo actuator. Rebuild ones are available for 100-150£ around, and its seems not uncommon that they start to fail intermittently.

I have ordered a tested, used turbo with half the milage as mine of Ebay. Will swap the actuator when I get it and hopefully the turbo DTC`s will be gone. Fingers crossed....

Known good used turbo arrived from ebay. Turbo actuator unit swapped over. All faultcodes related to the turbo are now gone. only P2297(21) is left. New oxygen sensor on order.
Old turbo is a bit sticky on the movement of the actuator rod, so its probably past its best. the "new" one feel smooth and firm, so it should also be mounted on the car sooner or later. "new" one is approx half the mileage of my car (280.000km)

Hi,Rover75
I assume by your last post you will change the complete turbo assembly over Thumbs Up
and not just the actuator, as the actuator is matched to to original turbo,

Hi,

P0045(19) vent back... I guess its because of the partly seized turbo vanes Sad So swapping the complete turbo is on the list Sad Any procedures/experience regarding this?

I have swapped the turbo`s today so now a 90k miles turbo with smooth vanes and its actual actuator is mounted to the car. I did also replace the O2 sensor located in the downpipe (the only o2 sensor present on this car)

Still gets the P0045 an P2297 Sad

A bit gutted now. Have no idea where to search next.

Ignoring this, the car starts and drives as it should...
