I've recently brought a Freelander 2 HSE TD4 2.2 2008 automatic and I've recently discovered the next problem:

At the first start the car runs perfect, no problem with it at all. When the engine it's at the normal temperature and I stop it, when I start it again it enters in a `safe mode` and I can not accelerate it. I've put it on a tester and there is no error.

Did enyone had this problem ?

Can someone help me?

Try replacing the fuel filter.At mine,the symptoms were the same,and i managed to solve the issue.

Battery icon stays on?

In the intake there is a motorised butterfly flap, it's purpose is to cut off the airflow when you stop the car - old diesels used to run-on for a few revolutions when the fuel was cut. This flap has a set of plastic gears that in time fail, the result is that the flap can get stuck, especially at the ends of travel. If the flap jams wide open you would probably never know, if it jams near the closed position you can start the car, but if you try to accelerate the revs will actually go down (flooding due to excess fuel?).

When you turn off the car it closes, then for the next 10 seconds or so it moves between open and closed repeatedly ( cleaning action?), this open/closed can often clear a the fault in the early stages. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
