All the time I've spent in the engine bay, first time I've noticed these... Just curious what their use is

I suspect they are some kind of resonance damper. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.
