I was wondering if there were any conversion kits or instructions on how to convert a standard Freelander 2 into a commercial vehicle (ie take out the seats, replace with floor and install cargo mesh behind the front seats.

Very early commercials of the FL2 were 'custom' built by Nene 'UnderHand' (I wouldn't trust them them toput a nut'n'bolt together !!!)
LR then made the factory supplied Commercial.

Your best bet is to find, on eBay, a vehicle that has had the conversion the other way, converting a Commercial to a regular vehicle. They do appear on eBay from time to time. Breakers sell kits which include bulkheads and floor supports and plastic window blanks (these are only covers NOT replacement windows.)

I have seen photos on this site of people who have converted the back end to a van type.

I'm not looking to change the electrics as I still need the windows for ventilation.
Photos look good. Will keep any eye out on eBay, but looks reasonably straightforward from the pics.

You couldn't & were not allowed to have the rear windows opening. Others wanted to have the rear windows open just a bit. Hopefully you can get around this administrative issue. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

When we travel around Australia for about 3 months at a time. We take the rear seat bases out & lay the backrests down. There is still a bit of room under where we store tow ropes.

We have noticed over the 3 months the backrests drop a bit as the foam in the seat compresses. So it would be better to support the floor with something more substantial for the long run.

I would take the entire seats out & you will have some more storage. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Yep looking at taking the seats out, like you say, it'll give more room. Might just make up a 'floor' out of ply to put over the backrests.

Here we have a Special LR built FL2 Commercial, for Western Power Telecoms.

Note the rear door window, gives sufficient viewing between B pillar and internal bulkhead then anything behind the bulkhead is blanked off. This is why lightwater is saying the rear door windows should be inoperative.
