Are you sure you got the correct bulb? The bulb that came with the new clear light I bought (because the old one was leaking) was clear, not red. Also in the light I removed the bulb is clear. There is a red peace of plastic inside the light where the light shines through. |

The bulb that came out is red (philips) , the local parts supplier lists a red buld (lucas) which I've bought but doesn't fit as the pins don't lline up . The handbook says the bulbs a regular P21/5W . It's got me stumped ?The rear indicator bulbs are silver too ? I changed my fronts to silver last year myself but can't work out the LR logic of having different bulbs.

Sorry, though you ment the high level brake light. The normal brake light is a PR21/5W (also called BAW15d) and it's red.

Have been down this path. First of all I could not get a red bulb so bought two ( packet of two) clear ones and there is stuff called lens dye that I sprayed ( two coats). Wrapped metal bit in masking tape while I did this. As others have said the bloody side pins do not align so.... I filed one off! Voila, it worked! There is enough spring tension to keep globe in place. Not the cheapest option but it wrked for me

File one pin off. It will still stay in place.

A picture of the offending bulb would be useful. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
