“All batteries are imported. Have noticed with various companies for any product there is a lot of stock shortage. Maybe a combination of cutting back on inventory & or difficulty in getting products imported.“

Not only that, some companies are not even shipping interstate at the moment! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Hey mate, where did you get your Varta battery?

Struggling to find anywhere in Australia with a Freelander compatible battery in stock, I don't know if that is the norm or if it is COVID shortage related?

They do have the F19 in stock by the look of it.

The F21 is for those of you with Start /Stop

They are both the same size 315x175x190

F19 for me too... I bought mine from Tayna in January 2019:

F19 Varta Silver Dynamic Car Battery 85Ah 1 £89.97
P&P £7.98
TOTAL £97.96

Current Tayna price is £86.50 plus £7.97 shipping.

just had my F18 delivered - after ordering it from Battery Megastore at 2pm yesterday - brilliant service! Cost £91.59 all in.
i went for them rather than Tayna as they seem to have their warranty procedure much more sorted. After 6 months Tayna told me that the cost of shipment for a warranty claim would be down to me to get it back to them. Megastore say they will pay for the courier as long as i send a test report on the battery.
Local indy price to supply and fit Land Rover brand £186 - and that is for a 700a 80ah whereasF18 is 800a.85ah.

now just to fit it and all should be well - hopefully. Smile FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

Agree with you with Tayna's warranty process. I had to pay return postage on Varta battery when faulty after 2 years (4 year warranty) and they refused to refund even after confirming fault. Wouldn't use again. Andy

I opened a trade account at Halfords . Which is easy to do , any trade is acceptable. Got their own brand AGM battery (stop/start type) 80amp , which is actually made by Yuasa , 5 years warranty for £113-60. Fit it yourself as only the windows needs resetting. Stop start working instantly.

Just ordered the Varta F18 from Battery Megastore as well, after a couple of dodgy starts on the car.

It currently has the original battery on it so its done well.

£91.50 delivered. MY2014 HSE Santorini Black

My 8 year old battery, the original one, packed up today and would not start the car. I had suspected it for a while now and had arranged for it to be checked during the annual service but that was postponed just as lockdown started. I have since had the service but the battery check slipped off the job list.

I called the RAC and they did a check and the battery was "cattle trucked" and a new one was needed and the RAC was able to fit a new one on the spot, so within half an hour of my call, including some minutes of "your call is important to us" I was driving home with a new battery. Not cheap at £136.99 but it has a 5 year guaruntee and they do a price match so it may be cheaper.

I've been a member of the RAC since a school mate joined the RAC as a motorcycle sidecar patrol man in the 1960s and he signed up all his school mates at three guinees a year, which was quite expensive. So after between 55 and 60 years I called the RAC out for the first time in all those years and I was very satisfied with the service. By coincidence my membership is due for renewal in a few weeks, I have looked around at alternatives and it is very difficult to make accurate like for like comparisons but I find the RAC cover suits me and with my recent experience see no reason to change.

Fitted Varna F18 from Battery Megastore today. £90.59 including next day delivery. Arrived at 14.17 today right at the start of the delivery slot. Great service.
Left wife in the car listening to the radio the other day. When I got back 15 minutes later she it had switched off and displayed a message saying ‘Low Battery’ Coming up to darker nights and colder weather didn’t want to mess about.
So thanks a lot for all your comments guys.
Helped a lot with decision making.

Good move but I think the message after 15 minutes is pretty normal.

I think the message is only shown if the battery capacity has fallen below set parameters , otherwise the radio just turns off after 15 minutes, and can be turned back on for a further 15 minutes . Ever since I fitted a new stop/start battery ( see my previous post on this subject) I have never had the message reappear. ‘‘This is another reason why the stop/start will always magically start working instantly after a new battery is fitted .

I’ve sat outside hairdressers waiting for SWMBO for quite a while Big Cry listening to the radio and whilst it does periodically switch itself off, I’ve never had a warning.
