Not that either really appeal to me, but if I needed one then it would be the one built in the UK rather than one built in a foreign factory. LR or Tata seems to have missed a rather large point in buying British. I can see the point in assembling ewokes in China for sale in China- tax wise it makes sense. But I would resign from a company rather than drive a foreign built car- and have done so when I was told my next car was a BMW, did the same again when they presented me at another company with a Merc. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Except for body panels and trim most cars are built from parts accessed in any part of the world, I'm not sure where JLR press their panels and which factories are just assembly plants, but normally any car is country assembled, tax plays a great part of where components are made and again even some components are assembled.
Going back to choice the new 110 Defender looks a real brute of a car and undeniably a Land Rover without looking like a cross between a Meccano/Lego product, the Grenadier is really just a modern replica similar to those C and D type Jaguars and other similar classic type products produced by some companies a few years ago with very a limited market. I saw a new 110 the other day in town it really stood out initially head on I thought it was FFRR but not quite right, on an OE plate so an LR car and probably got lost on its way to a demo day at Loch Lomond, though I'm not sure how this would happen in the blessed Nicola's Covid19 semi dictatorship Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Andy although I can agree with your sentiment, I would (and did) drive anything my company supplied. The most important thing to me was that it was reliable and comfortable.

From what I read Ineos will only produce a maximum of 25,000 a year.

I think the future of cars for most of us lays in common chassis, mechanics and electronic systems/software. across the world and manufacturers.

If we are to have a future as a country in the technological world, we need to increase our ability to educate and produce trained mechanics, technicians, and engineers. Also we need as a country to recognise that making things is as important as making money. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Wow that's quite a strong principle you really dont like foreign cars!
Driven and owned Peugeot and VW (we still have 2 VWs as well as the Landrover and Mini) and find them excellent. I do prefer and am proud to drive British. My dad drove BL products exclusively for virtually all of my childhood which is where I developed my love of them but in recent years hes driven Skoda Yetis which again are a decent little 4x4 too. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Not anti-foreign cars - we have bought two new Skodas in the past.

As a British Engineer, representing British engineering companies it stinks of hypocrisy when you turn up in a BMW (other foreign makes are available). That was the point I was making to the employer, unfortunately I don't bargain well, I gave both employers one chance to change their minds, there first response was you will drive what you are given, when I resigned they both tried to take a step back - too late.

I have been "lucky" I studied hard, and went into engineering, and continued to study - engineering is a passion not an employment. As such I have only been out of work once for longer than a few days - 2008 recession Shocked Shocked

Employers need to remember that it is a two way street, they must sell the company to prospective employees as much as the prospective employees need to sell themselves to the company. Fail this basic test and companies end up with second best, and employees end up in dead end jobs that they hate and will continually move on.

As an aside we saw a new 110 yesterday, in the wilds of Manchester SWMBO was very impressed, "wouldn't you like one of those"" no love, very happy with the DS, but a massive leap forward compared to the Defender". She was shocked and thought it couldn't have been designed by the same people who only a few years ago were selling outdated tractors as cars. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
