Hi all

Recently bought a 2009 SE diesel and the cruise doesn't seem to work, no light comes on indicating cruise control is active and it doesn't control the car.

I've googled relentlessly and downloaded/read the manual. Some say 'check the fuse' but no where are there any fuse diagrams that show where the cruise control fuse is, neither in the schematics on the fuse covers nor in the manual. Cruise control is never mentioned or pictured. I read it shares a dose with the horn, but that works fine in my car.

I have the CC switches on my steering wheel, though is it possible that there was no CC installed? How's can I check this? I've tried to look for the vacuum lines in the engine bay but just don't know what I'm looking for nor can I find any pictures.

Need some help!!

If the light simply won't come on, it's not likely to be vacuum related correct? More likely and electrical issue given no light and no CC?

From memory I think it’s fuse F7 under the glovebox. I think it covers all steering wheel controls, except the horns! So if other controls are working ok, it is probably a wiring issue. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Cruise
When speed control is activated, the TCM receives a speed control active message on the high speed CAN bus. The TCM activates a speed control map which minimizes up and down shifts. Cruise mode is active when speed control is selected on and the transmission is in drive 'D', sport 'S', HDC or Terrain Response Grass/gravel/snow program. Unique cruise maps override the current mode to provide a smooth driving feel and mode reselection.

Have you any DTC error codes?

its not like old cruise controls ,its purely electrical,i think!

Its hard to see from the diagrams and I cannot find an explanation.
But from what I can see the switches on the steering wheel digitally send info, via the 'clock spring', to the Steering Wheel Module. This translates any switch signals, and sends them down the High-Speed CanBus to any Control Modules that need that signal.
Best to look for DTC Error Codes with suitable reader, as it is all electronic, and if fitted, there won't be any obvious physical evidence to look for. (of course except for the switches - but these may be standard on the wheel for cost purposes)
