Freelander struck by storm

Not sure if it's a FL1 or 2 but scary none the less.

The storm that passed over the Dales brought an interesting incident whereby a Landrover Freelander was struck by lightening which blew out the rear window and burst the drivers front tyre. the male inside was very shaken but unharmed. crews assisted changing wheel. #notjustfires

I suspect the Freelander to be the earlier MK 1 style. The reason for this being the rear window is 'frame-less' and not bonded to the tailgate.

The car is a Faraday Cage & the lighting exited via a wheel. Goes to show you need a spare wheel. It's on the ground behind the car.

We have lighting conductors on our cars down under!

According to the news article the fire brigade changed the wheel for him - cheaper than joining the AA or RAC.

Because the front tyre was melted to the ground and was smoking a bit......and maybe they were just a bit shook up? Thumbs Up Regards
