Range Rove Evoque SD4 Dynamic 2.2 diesel ( 190HP)
4x4
Automatic Transmission
From 2014


I’m reporting a strange problem that I noticed few months ago.
When I’m driving for a while if I need to drive for 1 or 2 km at the speed of 40km/h the car loose partially the power and to recover it I need to stop the car for 10min.
No warning lights, alarms or messages in the dashboard.
When we connect the scanner there is no errors or failures detected.

I already changed “turbo hose” just in case but problem remains there….

Have anyone experienced something like that?

Fuel filter would be the first thing to change.

Welcome! As mentioned above the fuel filter should be checked (and changed) for a genuine one as there have been issues similar to yours reported caused by cheap aftermarket filters which do not allow excess fuel to return to the tank properly resulting in the fuel running excessively hot causing loss of power,poor running. I don't know about Km, but some on here say cambelt is now 7 years,
but my 4x4 independent Land Rover specialist tells me it is still 10 years for the SD4.

You have an Evoque, just noticed, as I was talking about Freelander 2.

As I mentioned, some people say 7 years.

Seven years is way to early, and the last car I owned that had a cambelt was a Citroen and that was every 150,000 miles.
I have owned two Mercedes since then, as there is no cambelt to worry about.

We’re talking land rover here but check what Volvo say

After having a cam belt break early and cause £1000 worth of damage to an engine (not my Freelander) I think I’d rather be safe than sorry. If Land Rover have reduced the service life of a part I’d hope it was because they found that the original recommendation of a 10 year life was leading to major costs for owners due to failure rather than the sceptical side of me thinking it was a way to fleece owners with increased service costs.

The reduction in the cambelt service time is due to the fact that the 190HP SD4 engine, with the new generation injection system which is requiring higher common rail pressure, puts additional strain onto the cambelt.

I changed the diesel filter and i notice that in the bottom the water sensor was missing in the old one and the cable was disconnected.

Is that important for the good performance of the filter?
