Which Continental did you fit? I’m thinking of the Michelin Lat Cross, GG AT3 or the Conti All Season Contact. I’ve the Cross Climates on with 26000 miles but with bad shoulder wear on the outside edge of the tyre, near side and only getting around 27 mpg but usually around town driving.

I have now the michelin latitude cross, before i had the Continental Cross Contact LX Sport M+S.
The michelin's are better off road, but they have a little bit more noise on road.
Conti's where 19 inch, michelin's 18 inch so cornering on road with 19" was better.

To be honnest, i would go for the michelin's  'per aspera ad astra'

mine is fitted with Scorpion Zero at the moment and they seem fine, but will need changing before winter. i want to go All season . the new Land Rover Discovery Sports are fitted with Scorpion Verde all season and so i thought these would be OK ? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

In the same boat as you Lakelander - likely needing new boots all round this year. Presently fitted with Scorpion Zeros, which are ok, but thinking if I fit others, I'll be left with a spare that's never been used but would be different to the others. Perhaps buy five and stick the current spare up for sale?

i was advised that FL2 is sensitive to different tread patterns and depths as it can affect rear diff and Haldex unit, so always use matching tyres of equal wear.
when i bought my car it had 4 Scorpion Zero of equal wear plus a full size spare with a cheap brand new Chinese brand. I ditched the Chinese tyre and bought a repair compressor kit with gunk ( Land Rover Conti orig ) off Ebay. this way i will never have different patterns or depth but if i ruin a tyre i might have to replace all four?
one benefit i now have is much more boot space - so i can keep all my walking gear permanently in the spare wheel well.
i also have a spare alloy in case i wreck one FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

You've guessed now why I have a spare, new unused same size, different pattern...........never needed it since

My point is it won't matter what make or type spare you have as long as it's the same size.

My replacement freelander had a spare from new, still sitting in there shining, never used.


You can still store lots of stuff under and around the spare.
The peace of mind is worth it!
You can store a bottle jack and blocks ,but I've got a mini trolley jack which doesn't take up too much room in the boot

But I also carry a Chinese now not acceptable in the Uk, tubeless puncture repair outfit,
A 1/2" drive impact driver,powered from 12v socket,padded socket,torque wrench and baby compressor.

This lot alone seems to guarantee you never get a puncture!

My FL2 came with Fulda Road 4 x 4s. I put new ones on the front and moved the old fronts to the rear (not sure of tread depth). After doing 20k those originals were still at 3.5mm. They're quiet (70dB) and have B & C rating for economy and water dispersal. I've had no problem with flooded roads and ice despite them being a 'Summer tyre'.
