Rear Shock Absorbers

Hi just going to change my rear shock absorbers, i notice on the bottom of the McPherson strut cup, there's a round rubber bush held on with a small nut. I have tried to undo it & its sheared off. What are they for & is it important to replace or can i just forget about them. Thanks Reg. Cool

That is a 'mass damper', there is a noise issue with the rear strut on the Freelander and that is there to help eliminate the noise.
