Marked difference in tourque and drivability - even makes 6th gear an option on our Cumbrian roads

Driving with canoe on top yesterday at 70mph, and lost power. 'Reduced Engine Power' flashed on the screen, so I limped home Restored factory setting but same problem, so lo-loader came to take to LR hospital

Anyone out there had similar experience or ideas? Could it be a coincidence? Out on the road today, I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac.............

Did you get the bluefin thing out of it before LR came to get it?!  09MY FL2 Td4 XS, Style Pack, Privacy Glass, Martinique Blue.. oh so very blue..

Ive had bluefin on mine for a while now no props at all(see old posts)but i do know of EGR valve probs,so might just need new valve let us know what prob was,thanks.

Have just had the exact same experience with mine following fitting Bluefin. Had limp home mode cut in twice within a week, which then has to be reset by diagnostic pc from LR. Currently vehicle in the dealers to sort it out. Obviously I have removed Bluefin remap and are assured by Superchips that there won't be anything visible to LR technichians.
The problem is with the turbo boost being out of spec. A few vehicles suffer from the variable vanes of the turbo sticking, which could cause a turbo over / under boost condition. Possibly may be the sensor picking up boost pressure over reading.

Superchips have suggested that they could build a modified map with a slightly lower boost pressure, however this will obviously reduce the performance advantage.

Would be interesed to find out what error codes have triggered you limp home mode and what the dealer is doing to sort it out.

Worst problem is, I now have a new Disco 3 HSE from Enterprise car rental via LR assist. And the wifey wants one of them!!

Do you know any more about EGR valve probs people have had, it certainly sounds a possible explanation for my turbo over boost issue.

shows plug and play chips not to be the best option in my opinion.

Agroman - I traded in my D3 SE last year for the FL2. I HATED the manual gearbox and have to say that the FL2 is a far better drive. After 2 1/2 years of driving, I reckon the D3 is too heavy, and that's even with a Jeremy Fearn upgrade (although it never went wrong!).

Completely different subject, but keep a look out for the Tata EV launch this September. Norwegian battery technology is top noch. Ugly car, but Tata could be our (LR) future. Out on the road today, I saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac.............

Having spent the last few days driving the D3 around, I would have to agree. The Freelander is a better driving car, much more nimble. There were a number of places in narrow lanes, where I couldn't turn the D3 around and had to reverse for ages. Didn't like the auto box, although its not that bad on D3, just don't like them. Biggest down side was getting 21.9mpg and not even driven hard. So Mrs. S can whistle, there's no chance of getting one. Nice inside though!!

BTW Dealer called me to say they are replacing turbo, as they think this is the problem - I'm not so sure! The question is, when I get it back, do I simply flash in the bluefin again or do I get Superchips to do a remap and turn down the boost a bit??
Superchips say they have run one for 12 months with no problems, on the standard map?

No, its the previous V6 I believe, although not well versed in Disco facts! It does have to work hard to move that size of lump though! Therefore eats lots of food!!

Will be getting a freelander back today, as the dealer now has to pay the hire on the Enterprise Rental once work on my car is authorised and started by the dealer. Therefore and understandably he wants me to use one of their own 'free' courtesy cars.

Collected car today. The dealer cleared the error message with some s/ware wizardry, but were asked by LR Solihull to try to replicate problem The issue definately points towards a Turbo boost problem - or at least a perceived one.

Anyway, they couldn't so the boys in W Mids are still scratching their heads. Interestingly they asked where it happened (as there are rumours of microwave interference).

I have now liberated my FL2 and left the Astra behind for Enterprise to collect

Back home now, and just re-installed Bluefin.

I will be interested to see what happens to yours when reinstalled. Give it some beans up a moderate hill in 5th, this what has blown mine on 2 occaisons. Mine is still at the doctors, waiting for a new turbo to arrive. Not sure that cure it though. Have been running 2 T oil for a while now, so in theory it should be nice and clean. Will be interesting to see what they find when they take old turbo off.

Have swapped D3 HSE for TD4 Auto GS. Despite lack of toys, I prefer the drive of the Freelander, even in auto form.

I've never really understood the mentality of chipping a big, heavy slow 4x4 estate??? Can someone enlighten me as to why people do this? I used to have an RX8, fast, handled like a dream & went like stink, but now I have a FL2 XS & drive it accordingly. Will be replcing my missus MX5 with a newish TT soon as I still like a spin in a quick car now & again! Just my two penneth, but I don't get it....
