Hi Guys,

I have a 2007 I6 and purchasing 4 bike rack for the rear to attach to the tow bar. However the previous owner had a Brink LR tow bar fitted but now I'm missing the swan neck and all electrics, Just a question to see if anyone has the missing part lying around before having to purchase a whole tow bar system. As all my research shows i can not just buy the swan neck part.

You are quite right, the separate parts will be as rare as hen’s teeth. That LR/Brink tow bar had issues with “knocking” with a trailer or caravan attached anyway, although that may not be an issue with your planned use. Your best value will be to go for a complete replacement bar and electrics from PF Jones. Surprised your electrics are not there. I replaced the LR bar with a fixed Witter bar with the original LR wiring kit. Note that if you go for the full wiring kit you will need it to be reconfigured in the CCF. Some just use a “by-pass” relay but they can be trouble too!

Thank you for your reply, Yes going to be speaking with PF jones and ordering all new bits as it a better option. Going to go for a fixed tow bar too,

I never had a detachable tow bar on any car. A fixed bar gives you a degree of protection from rear end shunts as my Peugeot 405, VW Passat estate and Discovery 2 testified, all 3 surviving with very minimal or no damage at all, the same cant be said for the cars that met with said towballs
I dont understand the desire to remove the hitch and store it in the boot, I dont find a towbar so offensive that I'd want to hide it and a Landrover without a tow bar is a bit of a waste. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

SWMBO prefers a removable towball so she doesnt walk into it when accessing the boot. The FL2 is technically hers. Jules
