England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Orkney Grey
Freelander 2 2013 Grill/Bumper replacement?

Hi Everyone!

First post... I recently bought a 2013 TD4 S.
I got some cash off the sale because the grill was more worn that I realised originally, and it's playing on my mind. I've found a good condition replacement but wondered if I could get some advice.

The replacement looks like this.. (pic 1)

But I notice that all the ones on the net have the full bumper attached too (pic 2 on the right)

Does anyone know if the grille could be separate from the bumper, as in the first pic? Looks almost to me as if the bumper has been trimmed to remove the original bumper.

I don't want to buy a can of worms and a part that I can't fit!

Any help appreciated

Jack

I recently had my front bumper and grille replaced. It came from Land Rover in one piece. If you search this site others have replaced grilles but it seems to require cutting.

Had mine off and was one piece. I didn't look too closely at the construction but I'd say its plastic welded, the shapes of the grilles would suggest they are fitted together, I'm sure careful disassembly and something like tiger seal would bond the joints robustly. I used it to bond the fog light retaining frames onto my bumper which initially didn't have them and they are never going to move. Welcome by the way!

There was a YouTube video by powerful UK a few weeks ago and I think he used a small electric saw
to cut out the grille, so I guess that must be only way to do it.

The pieces are heat welded together at the little lugs.

Sikaflex or Tigerseal will bond it every bit as well as the original plastic welding then. Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
