Even though the Freelander 2 seems to be made of 100% double sided zinc plated steel sheets, one problem zone remains: the cutting surfaces of the steel plates!
The inner wheel arches have a very long cutting surface WITHOUT any zinc plating.
The wheel arch rubber trim will hold humidity and salt for a very long time if not cleaned - or much better - sealed with a rust proof medium.

The zinc coating (or "e coat" application) takes place during the paint process. So the whole body is coated before primer and top coats are applied. There is no need to worry about the edge of panels not having adequate protection in any way shape or form.

Generally the quality of Land Rover paint finish and the Land Rover paint application process is held in high regard within the automotive industry.

I'm thinking to apply anti-corrosion wax under my Freelader 2 (i6, early car, 2006).
I'll remove the wheelarch trims and and anything else loose, to get proper access.

I read on here that the body-shell is zinc-coated at manufacture.
And presumably that applies to the insides of the box-sections.
Still, I'm wondering if it'd be a good idea to drill access holes in the longtitudinal box sections and wax inside them.

My questions:
(a) In normal useage, can road-salty water (or, any water) get into the box sections?
(b) Does anyone have information on the likely condition inside these box sections?
If we were considering a Defender, for instance - lots of people know what they get like inside the chassis rails.
Has anyone seen a cut-up crashed Freelander 2, seen what the insides of the box sections look?
(c) If I drill access holes, is there a chance of hitting wiring? The quick brown fox
