The fact is if you sell tyres you have to offer a repair Service . QuickFit are about the only place you can get a tyre repair on a Sunday and they know it . I’ve had the pleasure of using quick-fit many times before I quit the world of work . They were one of the tyre suppliers to our company car fleet . I always found their workshops to be dirty , run down and the customer area to be dire . I very much doubt that the cost of the repair is even related to the overheads of running the business . A puncture repair is a distress purchase , if you walk in and ask about it , you might moan , but you’re unlikely to drive away and look at the independent places . Because of that it will be priced at what they can get away with . If you have already found the independent place and use them for your tyres , you are unlikely to go anywhere near Quick—Fit in the first place . The original QuickFit company was sold to Ford , and since then has been moved on through various private equity owners who will all have had their pound of flesh leaving the company with the reputation it has today ... 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

So, £27 for a puncture repair...

£4.50 of that is VAT

Kwik Fit have an income of £22.50 on that repair

A repair takes around 30 minutes, by the time the centre manager has booked in, dished out the job, car on ramp, wheel off, leak identified etc

Of that £22.50, a new valve, balance weights and repair patch is about £2.50, so now we're down to £20

Out of that £20, the centre manager takes a wage, the mechanic takes a wage, and someone else will have to double check the wheel is correctly torqued

Let's assume they all get paid an average of £10 p/h. In that half hour, they will have earned £15 between them, leaving a £5 profit

From that £5 profit, they have to pay:
Rent
Rates
Business insurance
Electricity/gas
Water charges

Having already paid for, or financing of:
Ramp
Tyre changer
Balancer
Compressor and pressure gauge
Torque wrench/tools etc

So out of your £27, there is actually very, very little profit in repairing it...

Just another perspective on it Wink

Now I have the repair kit it costs $1 per puncture. Even the wife can fix the tyre & can clean the car when finished!

I use the same. So like not having to use pods! (I also have an original Gaggia Classic - makes great coffee, but still not as smooth as the aeropress!)

We had it for a long time & the gasket & outer body started to deteriorate. It was pleasing to by able to buy only the parts you need. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Nobody is making you use them! Common sense isn't very common.

Must be all that sun in Margate that is degrading the tyres. Shocked

All weather tyres!! this will be my last set.
great in bad weather, quiet with good tyre trade off
But being of a softer mix they seem prone to punctures...

What is it with sun & tyres up there? Down under we never have issues of the sun puncturing or ageing tyres. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Is that why it always flattens the bottom of the tyre then? Rolling with laughter
