Why would you buy a 4x4 to then convert it to a 2wd?

Wouldn't stability control be affected as you won't have power in places where it may be needed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Pull the Haldex fuse out and go for a drive, see if you like the feel of the vehicle. I did that when was trying workout whether noise was originating from the rear diff (it was). The car handles completely different without Haldex in the picture. I didn't like it. And yes lots of lights up on the dash to let me know computer wasn't happy. MY10 TD4 SE Auto |

Any marginal savings in fuel might be more than offset by increased insurance costs when you explain to your insurance company that it’s had a significant mechanical modification.., |

Won't the rear diff still be functioning mechanically as the wheels will still be turning, just not under load? FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

It will probably have a strong tendency to spin the LH front wheel when pulling away briskly if you don't have the drive to the rear - mine did after the PTU failed. Once it was replaced and 4WD again it drove much better and hasn't spun a wheel since, even in the wet |

Had my haldex replaced 4 times ... the fourth replacement needed 2 - 3 months delivery time + JLR approval. The local dealer removed the propshaft during this period and turned the car into a 2wd ... noticed fuel consumption economy (20 to 30% economy), nothing else actually in normal condition of use. |

Im quite surprised the propshaft and haldex unit cause some much drag as to reduce fuel consumption by 20 to 30% Jules |

Pulling the propshaft on an already noisy diff is pointless, as the diff will simply be driven by the rear wheels, so the noise will continue. You're 2 options are to replace the diff, or sell the vehicle with the issue and buy a replacement. The latter option will cost you more than replacing the diff. Be aware that if you pull the Haldex fuse, the vehicle will not have DSC or TC, but ABS will still function. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4.
