Hope this helps, but had the same issue, local dealer useless, so went online and found a steering lock emulator which plugs into the data feed back to ecu. Simple to fit, cost £24 and problem gone, always check steering before starting just in case, been ok for 3 months

Recently while drivng the "Steering Column Locked" message came up on the screen and then went off after a few seconds and kept on coming on and off. The steering was not locked and felt normal. I stopped as soon as I was able to safely do so - less than one minute. Switched off and restarted and all was normal. That was some weeks ago and it has not repeated to date.

Also, before the steering column message problem I had the problem with the tailgate not unlocking when the unlock button was pressed twice but would only unlock when the tailgate button was pressed. There is a good thread on here about that problem. After a week this fault cleared itself and the tailgate has unlocked on the second press as normal since then.

It is a 2012 model, so at 8 years old I expect there could be a gremlin or two running around.
