My old Freelander - YX14 XMW

Just wondering if my old Freelander is owned by anyone on here.
I've missed it even having 5 cars since and would like to know it went to a good home Smile

Now I have time to spend doing things properly, I decided to start taking all the little marks off my (white) paintwork.

First off was the bonnet, and I finished off with a coat of wax polish.

Only problem was, as it was bright sunshine, I gave myself a touch of sun-blindness, and when I went back indoors everything appeared very pink for about 10 - 15 minutes.

After avoiding white cars for most of my life, I must admit to liking the look on my FL2s that I have had. Keeping them clean and looking nice has not been as hard as I had imagined.

YX14 XMW pictured, looks lovely, and I do wonder why it was disposed of so quickly when it still had a lot of life in it.

PS this is a previous picture of my Metro, not after recent clean. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Yep - only sold it due to a 6 mile commute to work so was worried about the DPF, did the odd 20 mile each way run down the motorway every 2 weeks before work to keep it clean but though it a waste of time Sad

I also had the side strips fitted and colour coded

I spent a lot of time on the FL when i bought it, pulled off the side plastics and cleaned/ polished behind them, wheels off for a full clean/ sealant, changed badges to gloss black ones, did a few changes/ upgrades inside and out, had a full service inc all filters and oils (diff, gearbox inc) done by a specialist.

I loved that FL, drove perfect, looked great with the bodykit, 19"s and brilliant white paintwork, i'll never find another that good Sad

I also had the side strips fitted and colour coded

I share your sentiment... I miss mine too.
Logistics and money prevent me from buying a replacement.
I wonder how many are on the forum like us who used to have a Freely and come back to the forum for old time's sake... 2013 SE TD4 in Mauritius Blue [Written off]

I did look at getting a petrol FL a while back but after seeing the RFL cost it was a definite no-go

I looked at the Evoque which looks ok in 5 door trim but prefer the more rugged look and feel of the FL interior which says "4x4" - the Evoque says "luxury" which is what i wouldn't want in a 4x4

I looked into Discovery4s but found so many problem areas (suspension, brakes, etc) but don't want something unreliable or a money pit.

It does seem to me at least the 4x4 really has died, i know there are a lot of different marques out there but unless you want luxury, electric everything, high running costs and something that blends in with the school run mom mobile there's nothing to choose unless you go back to a <14 FL which are now getting older and high mileage

Took the words right out of my mouth. There just doesn't seem to be anything viable in between a Suzuki Jimny and a Toyota Landcruiser. There's a thread somewhere on this forum that talks about alternatives, problem is, there isn't one. And no, I'm not going to touch a Subaru Forrester. 2013 SE TD4 in Mauritius Blue [Written off]

The only 1 which i like on the approved list is an auto SD4 - https://used.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/3028513
I paid £15k for my last 1 with 30k in may 2017, i can't see how this can be worth £17844?
