Hi, quick question for all those IT types out there... For years I have set my computer to accept a full stop (.) as a date separator rather than using a forward slash (/). We have just been given Vista at work and am now getting to grips with Office 2007. Can anyone tell me how to set my PC to accept the full stop as the separator? The context that this is in is only really for Excel e.g. to type in today’s date I used to enter 18.3.9 and it would auto correct it to 18.03.09.
This was previously changed through the ‘Regional Settings’ option but the option is no longer there...

This might help you.

Select the date column at the top so every thing below is highlighted. Right click on the Letter at the top, select Format Cells, on the number tab select Date, in the type box you should see "14.3.01", select this format type and click OK.

Will have Vista tonight when home and will double check if I get time.

Bad idea! You should have stuck to XP and wait for Win7.
Have Vista on my home PC and get the runs from it. Last update crashed my Apache webserver and only could rectify it by reinstalling. Next day same . After 2 days of fidling got everything working properly again.

Think Vista is good for basic stuff but bad performance anoys the hell out of me, even on a 2 Gh dual core.

Now discovered a new problem: can write Data CDRs but cannot read them after... Doing a properties check shows I have a diminished free space on the CD but can't access the data...

Would have installed XP if only find the time to do it. They say there's an economic crisis out there but have never had so much work offered then this year!
