Battery on the way out?

Left car for 3 days and it started fine. Drove 5 miles to supermarket, wife went in store solo as required and I stayed in car with radio on. Up pops a message " turn on engine or system will shut down in 2 minutes". Is the battery kaput ?

Went for a 10 mile drive the long way home with a/c off and this morning all seems fine. Totally non techy so not up to checking voltage etc so should I go to ATS or the like.

Thanks in anticipation. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Sounds normal to me. Everything powers down after a few minutes. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

When you switch engine off and still have the radio on it will only stay on for about ten minutes before shutting down. Perfectly normal.

Thanks guys - have not had this message come up before even with the radio on, ignition off and then radio shutting down after about 10 mins -hence my concern. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

You would need to carry out a "load" test on the battery, a voltage test alone is not always accurate. If you have the ability to properly charge the battery, I would start there. I know the radio shuts off after a predetermined time but I don't know whether that is usually accompanied by the message you saw. Pretty sure someone will confirm that soon.....

When my battery was dying I got a warning during turning the ignition on "Low Battery, please switch engine on ..."

Changed the battery - no more warnings (2014 SD4 ) Jules

I am sure that is perfectly normal On the 2013 onward models.

It is annoying that you can't listen to the radio while waiting for your passengers to finish shopping though.
