Lockdown problem.

Issue: I may need to take my caravan out of storage and set it up in my daughter’s driveway for her use in isolation.

Background: Daughter is an NHS nursing Sister now working with Corona patients. She (along with many of her colleagues) is unhappy with the standard of PPE they are expected to work in which may conform to ”local” NHS rules but not the recommended WHO specifications. They are essentially being bullied to use it regardless. They are justifiably afraid of catching the virus themselves (several have absented themselves “sick” already, rather than risk it). Coupled to this, they have no dedicated changing facilities, apart from the staff room (which they also eat in) and a total absence of staff shower facilities. Therefore she has to travel home before taking a “decontam” shower and change, putting at risk her partner and family. She wants to use the caravan as her “decontam Centre” and for sleeping in isolation when she gets home. Just to protect her family.

My problem is: Am I breaking the lockdown rules (non essential journeys, 2 metre rule etc) by extracting the ‘van from storage and taking it 30 miles or so to her house and setting it up in her driveway? If so, who do I contact to get permission (or refused) 🙄

BTW, what I have described above is typical of the “modern” NHS 😥

Thanks. Unfortunately 101 is inundated with “non emergency” emergency calls and a recording reads us the riot act if we call them with “trivia”. 🙄 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

For urgent medical reasons you should be ok. Police if they did have occasion to stop you would be sympathetic to the circumstances and as you are directly assisting a front line health worker no one is going to penalise you. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Sounds good to me Bob. Have arranged to collect the caravan from its own “lockdown” storage at 2.00pm. 👍 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Heck, the Bobbies should escort you. Sounds essential for the health of your family to me. Do it.

Can she claim self isolation expenses, there may be a rental fee, & deep cleaning after use! Much cheaper than the entire family in hospital. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Fat chance! Dealing with the NHS here. Short arms & deep pockets when it comes to actually paying staff what they are worth!

Perhaps Cyprus surprisingly has a good system, you fill out a online form for a journey with the reason and print it, you then carry the form in the car, if stopped you show the form, if you are complying with the route and reason OK, if not you are fined and sent home, if you are stopped again not on your way home it will really cost you. The Cypriot government are specialists at collecting revenues when the coffers are running low Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The police are not stopping anyone for just driving around....just yet, if they spot a transit with 12 blokes and a crate of beer on the roof I am sure they would act but so far they have better things to do.

My Son has set up a gazebo in the back garden (he can access from the drive) so he can after a shift he can change and get washed (a bit cold but hey) before going into his home with wife and two young children, but since two week ago the DiL and grandchildren have come down here to stay with us for the duration, better to isolate here than keep risking infection from a Doctor returning from a 12 hour shift on a CV-19 ward.......

Although after watching Pepper Pig and Mr Tumble for two weeks continuously I think they should have taken the chances Rolling with laughter Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Job Done! Caravan collected from storage this afternoon. Very light traffic on A1/A46. Parked up on their driveway, electrics & water sorted. Brief walk around (keeping 2M distant, of course) Left them with some bed time reading, for me to answer questions later! Rolling with laughter Virtual hugs all round! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
