MOT due

Thinking about the problem of getting the car to an MOT station whilst self-isolating during Corinavirus, what are the chances of a 4 month extension being allowed (as is currently the case in Northern Ireland but for different reasons)? Alternatively, this might be a good time to bring in the 2-year MOT Test which has been under consideration recently.

A quick survey of MOT failures for certain cars indicates that a 2 year MOT is dangerous, there are certain French makes that have dangerous brakes every year, so probably the service consists of just an oil change. When you live in a country with 2 year MOT's you appreciate the UK's annual one. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Fair point. But I still think a few months extension on MOTs that are about to expire would be helpful to many people right now.

What is the problem ? Just MOT the car when you come out of isolation, as for a 2yr MOT I think the UK government have got more important Censored to deal with at the moment Whistle

There has been a piece on TV today mentioning this, apparently the U.K.GOV is looking at an extension certificate, presumably gained online?

But nothing in stone yet, so don’t take this as gospel and put it on social media as yet another COVID-19 “fact” Wink Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

No they didn't have a petrol DS and I wasn't interested in a diesel DS because of the oil dilution problem. They did have a 63 plate FL2 XS on the forecourt for £17991 though which is what I paid for my 14 plate three years ago so they are holding their price well https://used.landrover.co.uk/search#/details/3028659

From what I could tell, the workshop sounded busy but the sales side was dead, no phones ringing or customers around.

Interesting though I had the car serviced and an MOT. (£390 for the B service on the 3+ scheme) They sent me a short video saying everything was OK with the car etc and MOT passed. But the MOT came up with an advisory that the DPF pipe was split and needed replacing. It will be sorted out under extended warranty but I am surprised that it took the MOT to notice it and not the service. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Says it all regarding the “visual inspection” really doesn’t it? Or lack of as the case maybe...

I see Land Rover dealers are recalling retired people to assist with the visual inspections

Just had a call from the LR dealer to say that the split DPF pipe is not covered by extended warranty and it will cost £337 to fix it. Told them not to bother and I would seek other options. Funny thing is that I had a similar problem with an earlier FL2 about four years ago and it was fixed under warranty. Looks like they don't cover anything to do with the exhaust or DPF any longer. Just about to go out and get underneath and have a look myself. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
