I don't quite understand all the panic and country isolation, once it got out of China there was no stopping it, there is possibly it may and only may be a chance of slowing it down until the warmer weather but there's no guarantee that the warmer weather will slow it down, however in the UK the NHS is under less pressure. Basically it will be rather like flue, you may get or not you could self isolate to avoid it if you live alone in an isolated community but for how long? Just admit that you probably will catch it despite your best avoidance precautions, just hope it's the milder version. I don't think banning international flights make any difference now except to either bankrupt airlines or create a much higher fare regime in the future but that will reduce numbers to the better off, may please Greta but not many others my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Let all the rabid chavs fight it out in the supermarkets, and support your local Farm shops. Most have plenty of fruit, veg, dairy and meat, and you will find that they are a darn sight tastier than any of the supermarket rubbish. Chicken George I'm sure will do a special deal for forum members.

Common sense is required to help stop the spread but sadly there's a great many of the population that don't possess that basic element in their life. Why self isolate as recommended when you can just as easily phone 111 or 999, or wander down the pub, around the shops? |

I’m with Greta on this, I’d like to see the most pointless 75% of air travel disappear overnight and not come back. I’m sure all of the poor sods that have to live near airports and directly under their aircraft flight paths would agree and in terms of CO2 emissions per passenger km, they are chronically wasteful: Compare the CO2 emissions of a family of 4, clocking up a round trip of 800 miles to go on holiday (even in a Land Rover) with the same family flying a round trip of 4,000 miles and see where the maths gets you... Answer: 4,560 Kg vs 134 Kg. And that’s before it turns out to be the most efficient method to spread the next pandemic as quickly as possible Last edited by Tigger on 13th Mar 2020 8:10 pm.
