Unable to start Freelander 2 2007

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone assist with starting issue. The car is at the 8th place already without anyone able to get it to start.

Cluster was also replaced with the same issue.

Old cluster back in.. When you push the start button nothing happens. You can igngith the starter and it will swing but won't start.

Any help would be much appreciated.. I am 10 months without a car already..

I had a mysterious non start issue the day after I bought it (300 miles away), it had the usual HDC fault on the dash as well, all the usual advice proved fruitless unfortunately, but after two weeks getting really annoyed I bought a decent fault reader/writer and deleted every fault on the system (and there was a lot deep down) and it started first time after that, and has been perfect ever since. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

I had a similar issue when I reflashed my instrument cluster with a custom flash, before flashing vehicle started every time. For whatever reason, the reflash caused everything to function except the vehicle simply would not turnover/start. So, as @Boxbrownie posted above, I went through all of the error codes (at least one was a loss COMM error I think maybe with BCU) with a code reader and reset or removed them all and whammmmmmm, she started on the next try. I believe, with hindsight, that I either created a COMM error with one of the modules when I reflashed the cluster, or, the COMM error was already there and by flashing the cluster, I made the COMM error more prevalent or relevant. I believe that the red light that flashes on the cluster, the frequency, pattern, etc. can be an indication of what issue you are having. Maybe it's indicates an issue with the immobilizer or some such.

I am sure someone with explicit knowledge of this issue will be along with better info on the topic.
