Have to reselect D for Drive a couple of times to get headli

Like said in subject, I now often have to reselect Drive a couple of times to get the headlights to come on after starting up. And if reversing, have to reselect Reverse a couple of times to get it to engage.

I wondered if it was a switch attached to the selector, or is it relay or ECU related?

I couldn't find this problem in the forums.

Thanks

P

Is it the same if you have the lights in manual rather than auto? and what happens with the "get you home" lights which stay on for a while after the engine stops? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Yes, Dorset Freelander, it happens in manual light setting. The other symptom, no engaging full power, also happens at same time. I initially thought a worn switch, but maybe it's ECU.

I'd a reset so that might actually deal with it ...

I can’t see details on your profile as to how old car is I’m thinking it could be something simple such as extra earth battery etc ?
