Well yes, but the rest of the dialect I have to confess has flummoxed me. Further inept estimations on google reveal it to be Jamaican patois of some derivative.....I'm still none the wiser! Init!! |

Urban dictionary says Mandem is from the Latin 'mandemulus' which means a collection of less than reputable characters.

The BBC report I saw was more concerned about the grass of (Bristol) College Green being turned into mud by the protesters. Climate change will have that back to lush in the next month.

It was probably just chance that had on the BBC Internet webpage the thumbnail report of this child (a few years yet until she becomes a young lady) and her claim that the world was on fire juxtapositioned between the thumbnail for the huge amount of flooding in Wales and The West, and the report that someone thinks under 25 year olds should not be sent to prison since their bains have yet to develop. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

Where are the trees going to be planted? All the available countryside and open space is rapidly being destroyed by building roads and houses on it - and in the process chopping down all the mature trees that were already there. So the plot is to replace all the trees that are being lost to development - yes that makes good sense but only if you are a politician, dimwit or a climate terrorist. Perhaps we can get the Greta mob, who selectively choose only the bits of the science they want to believe, to do something useful and plant the trees instead of just gobbing off and causing disruption. Iβve planted about a dozen trees that were given out free by the Central Scotland Forest Trust - little do they know that there is a little part of the central Scotland forest in the Highlands! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Lol! The Central Scotland Forest Trust used to take a stand at the Royal Highland Show and give out free trees. As a family we needed to go through their stand as individuals to maximise the tree-take! Since the show attracts a world-wide audience, Iβm sure they were aware of the risks! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

We planted on a disused railway line and embankment, then in the pointy bits of triangle ended fields, modern farm machines dont fit into tight corners so might as well fill them with trees. Some trees in gaps in hedge rows etc etc more around the chicken sheds to act as a visual barrier and wind break. I might add most of the trees and covers were free, provided by my landlord at the time. 2000 in 1983, I remember, It was a rare event at the time the Yorkshire post came out to report "farmer plants tree!". there is a picture somewhere of me and my dad posing with saplings and spades. Any more trees would have to go on expensive productive land, a big ask, there is a lot of talk around airline etc paying farms to plant lots of trees to balance the carbon miles out. all madness At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race |
