No sunroof, put my hand though the gap after removing light fitting,I could feel the condensation on the roof.there no insulation there.alsi rusting on the light fitting.if there's a permanent live there it could creep and cause a battery drain.

I suppose it is unavoidable if there is a temperature differential between the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Rain or shine, hot or cold, I always have the air conditioner on to mitigate the effects of warm, wet air . Guy Pensa

Insulation will solve the problem.

Are you sure you haven’t got a water leak somewhere else, is the carpet or under felt wet when lifted? To have that much condensation usually means the interior of the vehicle is very damp/humid.

Do you get some condensation on the windows? If not I’d doubt the roof is getting condensation, more likely a water leak from up there, are the roof rack bold holes still sealed? Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

^^^^^Exactly the thought I had but I don't live in the UK so I am not familiar with how humid it can be there. OP seems to be describing a lot of humidity on the inside of the roof, almost as if there is a "grow op" in the vehicle Shocked. I'd be concerned about mould as well. Best to have a look under the headliner.

Hi the carpets are dry,a friend who runs a big transit van says he alway opens the doors after driving to let the temp inside drop to the same as outside.he says it stops the condensation .not tried it yet as it's always raining.

Do you use the air conditioner in winter? Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Insulation

Just a quick follow up,after removing the light and cleaning and greasing the connections .after being left for a week and in a cold morning it started first time.could this have been a possible battery drain problem solved.also when looking down on the frosted roof after a short run I noticed the frost had melted above the int light.i will try to get some insulation above the light to see if it helps.

In fact I do. With the temperature turned up. It ensures warm dry air.

The automated climate controls in the Jags always have the air conditioner (aka dehumidifier) on. Guy Pensa
