I had something similar which turned out to be a worn front CV joint. Jack up wheels and see if you can detect play at either end of each half shaft. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had exactly this after a new set of tyres. Took them off and rebalance them a total of 5 times but no change. Took it to a garage with a Hunter Road Force balancer and that cured it. These were Yokohama Bluearth all weather tyres. It was remarkable the difference. Expect to pay £10 per tyre but cheaper than a lot of hunting about ... good luck. |

Weekend checks didn't help much, i couldn't see any play in the joints as suggested, tried a few things to no prevail. Interestingly, another problem has arisen, loud rattling noise from underneath the car, sounds like the exhaust/heat shield maybe?. I have run it into a garage and they are about get the car in the air and inspect. Could a heat shield underneath have been the problem?? Doubt it, but wouldn't it be lovely to kill 2 birds with one stone! Will update in about an hour as in the garage now! |
