Door lock mechanism - genuine or ebay special?

Need to replace the drivers door lock motor, genuine is about £120 or £30 off ebay. Am I going to end up doing it twice if I buy the ebay version?

replaced one of the rear doors lock with one from ebay 2 - 3 year ago and still working fine - the quality of it seemed pretty good.

I too bought one few weeks ago for drivers front I thought for the price it’s worth a go and when I fitted it I would not open the door with the inside pull handle and as it is only the motors that pack up I decided to open them both up and just swap the motor into mine but unfortunately the motors were slightly different. With the two both opened up next to each other it was obvious where the fault was and by bending the pull/ striker part into shape I managed to make the new one work ok . It is only when you see the insides that you can tell why they are cheap the mechanisms are very flimsy not like the genuine ones they are heavier and a lot more solid but I guess if they can last a couple of years it’s worth the saving .

I have had a couple from JGS4x4. The first one failed on fittting (and caused me not to be able to open the door) The replacement failed after about 18 months. JGS werent at all helpful getting it replaced. Better to get some replacement motors and repair the originals.

For me, when I'm looking for replacement parts
of this nature, then it would be genuine all the way.
some thing are just too cheap.
